WHY WE WALK
When PADD was founded in 2012 over 3,500 deaths and more then 300,000 crashes were caused by distracted driving at a cost of $43 million dollars. Since then we have brought this epidemic to the national spotlight with our "DON'T DRIVE DISTRACTED" sign campaign in twenty state, spoke to thousands of elementary, high school and college students across the nation, reached tens of millions of drivers with our trucking billboards, helped hundreds of victims of distracted driving at no charge and have saved literally hundreds of thousands of lives. But there is still more work to done to eliminate distracted driving and serve it's victims and families.Read more...
Distracted driving is a very complex crime. With most of society being addicted to the connected world it makes it a challenge to change behavior. Our team at PADD® is investing our time, energy and resources to support the victims of this crime, create programs, laws and educational material to create a change in the mindset of society towards the global epidemic of DUI (of cell phones).

About People Against Distracted Driving, America's Voice Of The 3D's Of Distracted Driving Awareness
THE COUNTRIES VOICE OF THE DEADLY 3D's OF DRIVING. DISTRACTED DRIVING, DROWSY DRIVING AND DRUGGED DRIVING.
People Against Distracted Driving® (PADD) was founded by Mike and Gina Kellenyi. Their daughter Nikki Kellenyi was killed in her senior year by her own friend distracted by a cell phone. PADD has become the nation’s largest growing nonprofit working to protect families from distracted driving which includes drugged driving and drowsy driving known as the 3D's. PADD was the first to determine that these other forms of driving fall under distracted driving. With the help of those who want a safer future, PADD’s Campaign to Eliminate Distracted Driving® will end this danger on America’s roads. And as one of the largest growing victim services organizations in the U.S., PADD also supports distracted, drugged and drowsy driving victims and survivors at no charge, serving anyone who needs help 24 hours a day at 1-234-738-DTAD (3823). JUNE 22, 2016
CONCORD, NORTH CAROLINA (June 22, 2016) – As a race car driver Tom Hessert knows a thing or two about the importance of staying focused behind the wheel.
This weekend, Hessert, a five-time winner in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, will carry that message onboard his Venturini Motorsports’ backed No.25 People Against Distracted Driving (PADD®) Toyota in Sunday’s Herr’s Potato Chip 200 at Winchester Speedway.
“It’s an honor to partner with ‘People Against Distracted Driving’. If we can help educate one fan on the dangers of distracted driving and possibly save one life, we’ve done our job,” said Hessert.
”Distracted driving is quickly becoming an epidemic. With literally almost everyone connected to social media through some sort of personal electronic device it’s no wonder why distracted driving car accidents and fatalities are on the rise.”

Ten Safety Tips To Arrive Alive During The 100 Deadliest Days of Summer, From People Against Distracted Driving
1. Put the phone down. You don't need to turn it off, just be responsible and use a PADD approved cell phone app like Drivebeehive, Textstar, Drive Alive and Thumb Tied. If the app isn't approved by PADD, it's likely to have a safety issue preventing it from being a 100% life saving app. Never ride with someone who uses their cell phone while driving unless they give their phone to you so you can be the designated texter.

Your Children Learn from your Behaviors. Driving distracted is planting the seed that it is harmless. Be careful what you teach them and think...Just how comfortable will you be watching your child take the car out, cell phone, iPad, or whatever in hand, knowing they will be practicing the same dangerous behavior behind the wheel that you have taught by example? Is this the message you want to send to your kids?Read more...
