GREAT RAILING WEEKEND OF THUNDER : MAY 31 – June 1, 2014 The Great Railing Weekend of Thunder will feature four exciting racing series May 31-June 1, 2014. Joining the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will be the Trans Am Series, Pirelli World Challenge Series, and Fidelity Power Systems SCCA Pro IT Series. The event will mark the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards’ seventh annual visit to southern New Jersey. Andrew Ranger has captured the series’ last three races in New Jersey, fending off the likes of George Miedecke, Chase Elliott, and in 2013, Cherry Hill, N.J. native Tom Hessert. Trans Am, “America’s Road Racing Series” dating back to 1966, makes its first trip to Millville since ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards weekend in 2012. A Trans Am Series race is 100 miles in length, and does not require a mandatory pit stop for fueling, tires or driver changes. As a sprint, it is driver versus driver, and that means its flat out racing from start to finish. Past Trans Am champions include Scott Pruett, Scott Sharp, and Boris Said. The series is sanctioned by SCCA Pro Racing. The SCCA Trans Am Series dates back to its first season in 1966. In addition,The Pirelli World Challenge was founded in 1985, and holds races at several IndyCar Series, American Le Mans (now TUDOR United SportsCar Championship), and the North American V8 Supercars event weekends. The series last ran at Thunderbolt Raceway in 2009 as support with the Grand-Am Rolex Sportscar Series. Also taking part in the weekend’s activities will be the Fidelity Power Systems Pro IT Series, which served as support for last season’s ARCA weekend in New Jersey. Pro IT was conceived in late 2007 and kicked off in 2008 with great success, and has run several weekends at NJMP since – including 2012′s Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series event.Kids 12 and under are free for this event.
